Have had cosmetic treatments on your face, neck, or chin
Have had or have medical conditions in or near the neck area
Have had or have trouble swallowing
Have bleeding problems
Are pregnant or plan to become pregnant (it is not known if KYBELLA® will harm your unborn baby)
Are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed (it is not known if KYBELLA® passes into your breast milk)
Are taking any medications, especially blood thinners

WHAT IS KYBELLA®?
KYBELLA® is a prescription medicine and is the only FDA-approved injectable treatment used in adults to improve the appearance and profile of moderate to severe fat below the chin (submental fat), also called “double chin.” The injection can significantly improve chin contouring and smoothness without invasive surgery or downtime.
HOW DOES KYBELLA® WORK?
The active ingredient in KYBELLA® is synthetic deoxycholic acid. Deoxycholic acid is a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected into the fat beneath the chin, KYBELLA® destroys fat cells, and once destroyed, these cells can no longer store or accumulate fat. This results in a noticeable reduction in fullness under the chin, revealing an improved chin profile
HOW IS KYBELLA® ADMINISTERED?
Treatment can only be administered by a KYBELLA®-trained healthcare specialist. At each treatment, you will receive multiple small injections under your chin, and the injection process takes about 15 to 20 minutes. The exact number of injections will depend on the amount of fat you have under your chin and your desired profile.
IS KYBELLA® FDA APPROVED?
Yes. KYBELLA® has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the reduction of submental fat and is a great way to rejuvenate the appearance of your face, giving it a leaner, more youthful look.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?
One of our medical professionals will create a tailored treatment plan based on your chin profile. At each treatment, you will be given multiple small injections under your chin. You may receive up to 6 treatment sessions, spaced at least 1 month apart. Many patients experience visible results in 2 to 4 KYBELLA® treatments.
HOW FREQUENT ARE THE TREATMENTS?
KYBELLA® is administered in a series of treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart. Up to 6 treatment sessions may be administered spaced no less than one month apart. There are many factors such as age, physiology, anatomy, and your goals that will help determine which treatment plan is best for you.
IS THERE ANY DOWN TIME?
There can be some bruising and swelling following KYBELLA® treatments, similar to other injectables, which can last up to a week. Patients are advised to wait a few days before returning to the gym. Performing any strenuous activity can prolong swelling and increase bruising. You may experience some swelling and some tenderness for a few days because the body is cleaning up all cellular debris and creating a bit of contraction in the skin. But because it’s not an invasive procedure, the recovery promises to be faster than recovery from liposuction. The swelling at the injection site may last 4-7 days.
WHAT ARE THE POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS?
KYBELLA® may cause serious side effects, including injection site problems such as bruising, hair loss, open sores (ulcers), and damage and tissue cell-death (necrosis) around the injection site or trouble swallowing and nerve injury in the jaw that can temporarily cause an uneven smile or facial muscle weakness. In clinical studies, nerve injury in the jaw resolved on its own in a median of 44 days (range of 1 to 298 days), and trouble swallowing resolved on its own in a median of 3 days (range of 1 to 81 days).
The most common side effects are swelling, bruising, pain, numbness, redness and areas of hardness around the treatment area. These are not all of the possible side effects of KYBELLA®. Call your healthcare provider if you develop open sores or drainage from the treatment area or for medical advice about side effects.
HOW LONG WILL RESULTS LAST?
When injected into fat under the chin, KYBELLA® causes the destruction of fat cells. Once destroyed, those cells cannot store or accumulate fat. After reaching your desired look, further treatments are not expected as the fat cells have been completely destroyed and your new chin profile will last forever.
